The kitty is home.

Ok, so here's the situation that's been going on with Rusty in a nutshell. To start off, y'all know Rusty is one "special" kitty who truly thinks he is a dog. The reason we think that is because he tries to EAT everything like a dog. I've known for a while that he likes my hair rubber bands, which is why they are always tucked away in a drawer. Rusty reached new, crazy heights recently though. Apparently there was an enticing string hanging from one of my shirts in my closet. No, he can't just play with it though, he had to chew it off and EAT IT! Yes and now I know cats and strings don't mix (unless you are not aware, if a string is ingested it can cause SERIOUS issues, like an intestinal blockage).

So fast forward to Monday morning, I took him to the vet and they didn't immediately do an x-ray because at that point it just appeared to be some respiratory issue (fever, runny nose, etc.) He had a VERY high fever, 104 and 101 is normal. So he got an antibiotic shot, the fever came down and basically appeared to be improving. Tuesday I picked him up, we got home he had some water then threw up, then it was back to the vet. Finally Tuesday afternoon, they injected some barium into his mouth so they could watch it travel through him on x-rays. Good news there, it passed through his tummy & is currently in his intestines which means there is no blockage.

So, this morning they did a final x-ray to see that it's traveling all through his intestines ok, now we just have to wait till it "passes". He is also drinking water, eating some food and has a totally normal temp. THANK GOODNESS!! They told me if I would like he could stay the night again or I could pick him up but, I figured he would be so much more comfy at home. Since we have been home he's been drinking water and ate some tuna, the best part of all that is that he's not getting sick. He seems to finally be able to keep it down.

Needless to say we are all SO happy to have Rusty home and feeling better, Shiloh especially :)

Maybe it's something with kitties that look like that. Reagan always eats random crap too. Paprt, plastic, string. We had to do the same thing with him 2 years ago!

Glad he is home and getting better!
